More Motorcycles

Here we have the same chap with the Tamiya Honda CB750F and his girlfriend.
She obviously has the upper hand as he has bought her a Yamaha GR50 to pass her test on.
It is difficult to believe that the Yamaha is the same scale as the Honda.
It is supposed to be 1/12 as well.
I put the Honda in for comparison.
The figures are 1/12 dolls house bits.
Hope this entertains you all!!!!!

Motorcycling!

Here is the latest modelling effort.
This is a 1/12 Tamiya kit of a Honda CB 750-F.
The bloke will give some idea of scale.
Does he look a bit dodgy?
Wait till you see his girlfriend!

1/48th bits and pieces

I have been building a 1/48th scale diorama for the past year, maybe even eighteen months.
Having seen the blog I thought I would let you see some of the models I have built so far.
The idea (was) to build a WW2 Nazi research bunker. This is at the moment on a 4ft x 2 ft baseboard and has a narrow gauge railway on it. It seems to have run out of steam and I need an injection of enthusiasm to get going again.
It was to be partly underground with research facilities fro the V1.
On show here some of the vehicles and figures so far - I dug them out of their storage bunker.

Tamiya / ICM ground stuff

Just a few photo's of my 1/48th German ground equipment from Tamiya/ICM.
I hope you can see that the detail is exellent even with my painting skills. All well worth the effort.

My Citroen 11CV

Here it is, just about finished. Like all Tamiya kits it was a pice of cake to build. If you finde this hard you should take up knitting.
It dose look a bit 'die cast' but what the hell!!! I may get another one to paint German Gray.
Or should I take up knitting???

Telford weekend - part 4

Saturday is nearly over and we have retired back to our accommodation for a bit of a clean up before heading out again to the local pub.

Very enjoyable day with absolutely loads to see. I think this year is better than the last and I still haven't looked around the competition models yet.

Here is a little selection of some of today's purchases.

Telford weekend - part 3

Lots of excitement today, very busy at the show.

I struggled to get close to the Airfix stand.

Lots of things in the pipeline. I am so excited that they are releasing a model of the Trafalgar class submarine!!!

Telford weekend - part 2

After a hearty breakfast we travelled to the show. A little bit of a queue to get in at around 9.20 but eventually we arrived.

Lots of activity setting up models and catching glimpses of goodies to buy.

Watch this space for more show news as it happens!

Telford weekend - part 1

After a pleasant drive down and some breakfast, we had a look around the museum at RAF Cosford. Maybe it was just me but it was absolutely freezing!!

Then it was off to the exhibition centre to get set up.

A lot of activity with stalls being setup.

We left the table with a little humour!

FLIPPIN ECK !

This is the latest project , big innit . As you can see
I've had a good tidy up just so I can work on the flippin'
thing . It's only 1/72 scale . Blohm & Voss B V 222 .
Revell kit , and very nice too , it looks as though it will
fit together with very few problems . The wings are a bit
warped but I don't see any reason why they won't pull
flat with a little brute force and ignorance ( I've got plenty
of that ) .

Finally finsihed a Model!!!

After many months (even years if I am honest!) I have finally finished a model.

I wanted to get started again with modelling but realised how rusty I had become. I didn't want to practice on my half built S-3 Viking so decided to give one of the little 1/48th scale vehicles a go from Tamiya. My thinking being that they wouldn't take too long to complete and it would be a good refresher.

I really enjoyed building this little "Austin Tilly" and I finished it in RAF colours so that I could use it as a diorama accesory with my WW2 aircraft. The kit went together like a dream and if I hadn't messed up with the primer it would have been finished in no time. As it was I re-learned a valuable lesson about paint finishes and clean surfaces. It got me totally hooked again on modelling and past that barrier I seemed to have been stuck at for way too long.

Now I can't wait to get the Viking finished, just hope I can get it completed ready for Telford.

Now I'm getting Somewhere.......................Blinder Progress

Well since i last put a bit on the blog I have manged to silver the beast and put differing shades of metal. It is now looking like a Blinder but alittle still to go.

One thing I am pleased with is the use of Alclad II 'Hot Metal' colours for heat staining around the engines. A bit of experimenting here but I got a result better than previous attempts.

Might even try putting on a F-100 or Starfighter, which would look good as their jet pipes always discoloured.

Back to the Blinder  For any Soviet experts out there, this model is an interpretation of what I think it should look like, and as I haven't been to Russia then its up to my thoughts, so if I'm really wrong sorry!

hope you like the Pics

From Comet to A380

Looking through some of my unmade models recently with my 6-year old son, who is currently working on a Concorde model, he asked about which aircraft was biggest.  Well it must be the A380 I said and we looked at a fuselage half section.  Then we compared that with a Comet 4B model.  Both aircraft in their day are/were at the forefront of technology and at the top of leisurely travel.  But, just look at the staggering difference in size.  The Comet fuselage just about fits into a single A380 engine!

The attached picture shows just how far civil aviation has come in 50 years or so.

Yellow / green , yuk !

Bit more progress .
The interior colour is supposed to be zinc-chromate primer ,
I used Tamiya yellow/green but it looked a bit sickly to me
so I threw a bit of light green in to make it look a bit
more , well , green . I suppose to the purists it's wrong
but the photo is taken in artificial light so it is a bit more
yellow than the pics . Still , who cares . not me .
This is supposed to be a bit of light relief , so it's getting
chucked together with gay abandon .

Here are some views of the Airfix 1/32nd Rolls Royce, just finished it.
Not bad considering it's age really.

Austin Tilly & Acrylic Primer

Hi All

Here is a picture of what happened when I tried to use Humbrol Acrylic Primer on an Austin Tilly for the first time.

I think this is because I didn't wash the model before applying the primer like I usually do (that will teach me to rush).

More pictures to follow after a bit of sanding to sort things out.

Now for something different .

Thought you might like to take a look at these 'cos when the
fuselage comes together , I dont think you will be able to see
very much .
It's the Academy kit of the Curtis Helldiver in 1/72 , very
nice kit , easy to put together , not like a boat or a biplane .

ALL CHANGE IN THE 'BLINDING' COLOUR DEPARTMENT!

HI Everyone

Well the Blinder is coming on and is changing colour from Black to Silver. I think I have sprayed 5 or 6 coats of Alclad over the model, most surfaces getting at least two coats.

But it has been a 'Blinder' to cover evenly........................!

If you look at the model from different angles, some areas seem more silver than others and then from another angle they don't, very strange? A trick of the light?

However I do think that whilst Gloss Black does give better reflectivity of the silver, on a large model as this, perhaps a Gloss Medium grey might give a better result.

Note to Kevin, on next big silver model!............Gloss Medium Grey

Now I need to select panels for differing shades of silver and then to paint up wheel wells, undercarriage components and finally the white heat resistant areas currently under Tamiya tape and paper.

Once assembly is done the Di-electric panels can be picked out, nose anti dazzle panel, nav lights etc.

Hope you enjoy the pics

Kevin
