Hi All, Well I've done something new to me. I was asked by a work colleague if I could make a model of her Dads house as a Christmas Present for him. She supplied me with some pictures and a basic floor plan and I got to work. I made it to 1/50th scale as the drawings I had were in metric so it made an easy conversion. I had to use some judgement as to heights, but I think it is quite near. The building was made more complex by it standing on an incline so I had to factor that into the build. I made the building from mainly card stock and a balsa frame reinforcement. I learnt how to cut balso quite accurately and squarely....................consistantly believe it or not. The roof tiles I printed onto card, and then cut out and stuck them on level by level, again a new venture. Windows were blacked out from behind including the bay ones! ,and decal strip used to make frames, a long a tiresome task but in the end they look okay. the conservatory is a mix of plastic card, clear plastic sheet, and a balsa floor with a printed tile floor (I was getting cocky now!) I sent my friend the pictures and she is very happy with the result, and I have learnt some valuable skills in building making, that I shall be posing my next model with some building or form of construction with it to 'set the scene'. Hope you like the pictures. Bigkev |
